Teva recently acquired the US firm’s intellectual property rights to the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.
Pfizer, maker of the world’s top selling erectile dysfunction drug, has signed an agreement with Teva that will allow Teva to sell the drug as a generic.
The agreement is an attempt to protect Pfizer’s patent on Viagra, the world’s best-known drug, and the global leader in erectile dysfunction treatment.
Pfizer said the transaction with Teva was completed on May 15.
It will give Teva the exclusive right to sell the drug as a generic, subject to the approval of Pfizer.
Teva will also pay Pfizer royalties and other payments to the US company. Teva, which was acquired by Pfizer in 2014, has a 12-month supply and is expected to begin selling the drug in the US on May 26.
Teva’s current patent on Viagra expired in July 2013, and will expire in 2015.
The drug is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men.
Viagra, known generically as sildenafil citrate, is the generic version of the drug. Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, works by relaxing blood vessels in the penis, allowing blood to flow into the penis when an erection occurs.
The Pfizer deal with Teva will allow Teva to sell the drug as a generic.

In addition to Teva’s agreement with Pfizer, Teva is also developing a new product to treat erectile dysfunction in men.
